2019  SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER

 Costa Rica Mother's Kitchen
With Amma's grace and inspiration, we have been feeding people free for over ten years from Casa Amma in Puerto Viejo, a small town in Costa Rica. Every month we cook and serve over 100 plates of food on the streets of Puerto Viejo Downtown, always making enough to fill the bellies, in case people want seconds or thirds.

For years Leo Bravo (left below, shopping for Mother's Kitchen) and Iswari (right, below) were the main cooks and distributors of meals. Now we have great regular helpers who come to help shop, chop, serve and clean up. Many also come to monthly satsang, and may not have met Amma, but are inspired by her Love.

Leo and I have been making prayer bracelets and selling them by donation in Costa Rica and USA which pays for all the food. Thank all of you who contribute. So many help in so many ways to make this happen here.

In 2018 we served over 2,200 plates of food and we hope to serve more this year.

Thank you, Amma, for the privilege to serve your children in Costa Rica.

 Our Beginning...
In 1996, people inspired by Amma's teachings about serving the poor asked her if they should find a place with a real need and try to help. When Amma said yes, they found a small soup kitchen in west Oakland serving free meals every weekday while operating on a shoestring budget. Mother’s Kitchen began serving hot meals there twice a month, soon adding bagged lunches too.  Very soon, Mother's Kitchens began popping up all over the map, first in Dallas and Seattle, then Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, and we are now at 50 plus in the United States, Canada and Central America, serving over 150,000 meals annually. Our bi-monthly Newsletter will highlight the wide variety of Mother's Kitchens across the country.
